Cheap Wedding Reception Ideas Part Two

When planning a cheap wedding reception it’s ok to splurge on a few things as long as you cut corners elsewhere.  That is where prioritization comes in!  It’s all about give and take.  Here are a few tips to cut corners and save on a few things so you can splurge on others.

·         Your Cake:  What is cake but just a bunch of flour and eggs.  Why is it so expensive?  Well when you put the term “wedding” in front of anything the price automatically doubles.  There are a few options to getting a cake for your cheap wedding reception.  If you or a friend knows how to bake, consider baking your own cake.  Otherwise you can order a cake from the local grocery store.  If you have your heart set on the extravagant tiered wedding cake many bakers offer a faux cake option.  What this means is that the bottom layer of the cake will be real for cake cutting purposes, but the other tiers will be Styrofoam that has been iced and decorated to look like a real cake.  After you and your groom cut the cake, your caterer (or a designated guest) can bring the cake into the kitchen where you will have an inexpensive sheet cake from the local grocery store to serve to your guests.  Your guests will never know the difference! Cheap Wedding Reception Ideas Part One

Your wedding will be one of the most important days of your life, don’t let the over inflation of the wedding industry keep you from having your dream wedding.  Avoid starting your life together in debt by following these few easy steps to planning a cheap wedding reception.

First you will want to set yourself a reasonable budget.  You can plan an extravagant wedding with as little as $2000 if you plan accordingly and prioritize effectively.  All you need a little time and effort and a ton of imagination! 

·         Your Guest List: The first thing you will want to consider for a cheap wedding reception is your guest list.  Most expenses are calculated per head, especially for all inclusive venues.  Therefore you will need to be ruthless when planning your guest list.  Only invite close family friends and tell anyone who may be hurt that you are just having a very intimate wedding.  You may also want to hold a celebration for those who are not invited at a bar or restaurant.  If you are able to keep your guest list at a minimum you will be able to book smaller venues, have less table, chairs, linens, food, ect which will save you tons!
