Tuesday, December 9th, 2008When planning a cheap wedding reception it’s ok to splurge on a few things as long as you cut corners elsewhere. That is where prioritization comes in! It’s all about give and take. Here are a few tips to cut corners and save on a few things so you can splurge on others.
· Your Cake: What is cake but just a bunch of flour and eggs. Why is it so expensive? Well when you put the term “wedding” in front of anything the price automatically doubles. There are a few options to getting a cake for your cheap wedding reception. If you or a friend knows how to bake, consider baking your own cake. Otherwise you can order a cake from the local grocery store. If you have your heart set on the extravagant tiered wedding cake many bakers offer a faux cake option. What this means is that the bottom layer of the cake will be real for cake cutting purposes, but the other tiers will be Styrofoam that has been iced and decorated to look like a real cake. After you and your groom cut the cake, your caterer (or a designated guest) can bring the cake into the kitchen where you will have an inexpensive sheet cake from the local grocery store to serve to your guests.
