Attendant Duties: Bridesmaids Part 2
Asked to be a bridesmaid but don’t know what all that entails? Generally the attendant duties of a bridesmaid are to help the bride with all of the shopping, planning and implementing of her wedding day. Here is the second part of my in depth guide to being a bridesmaid.
If you are a savvy shopper you may want to go with the bride when she is registering. Most men hate the idea of shopping, and most brides don’t want 30 Play Station 3 games on their registry list. So if your bride wants a little help, this may be a fun task for you to do.
A big task for the bride to tackle is the seating arrangements, and she could use all the help she can get. Offer to make a drawing of the tables and pencil the guest’s names in so they can be rearranged later. Remember to bring the drawing to the wedding in case there are any mix ups.One of the major bridesmaid attendant duties is to help plan the bridal shower and bachelorette party. This responsibility usually falls onto the maid of honor so make sure not to step on any toes. However, there is so much to plan that the maid of honor will surely need your help. Some major things to remember when planning these parties: order the flowers, book the caterers, order the favors, and book the venue. Make sure all this is done way in advance to eliminate any last minute scrambles.
Of course you will also be expected to attend and offer help during the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Sometimes the bride and groom get so pre-occupied with their families and old friends that they can forget about some important things. Make sure the flower girl and ring bearer know exactly what to do, try to keep order so the rehearsal can move along smoothly, and maybe even kick off the toasts at the dinner.
